POKROV.ORG

How to use Pokrov

There are various ways to explore the Pokrov site.

If you are looking for information about something or someone in particular, use our search engine. It is located at the top left hand side of each page. Select either "articles" or "people," enter the search term in the box, and hit "go."

If you selected "articles," a list of those articles containing the search term will appear. Click on the article title to read the complete text.

If you selected "people," you will get a list of people containing the searched name. Click on the name to pull up our page on that person. (Even if only one name appears, you still must click on the name to pull up the page. If you have neglected to click on the name, the right hand side of the page will say "What's New" when it should say "Related Items.")

PLEASE NOTE that if a name comes up under the "people" search, it does not mean that this person had done anything nefarious. We have pages for many people on our site, including ourselves. Some are listed simply because their name appears in an article we have posted.

If the person is included on one of our lists (see below for more information on how to find these lists directly), one or more of the following terms will appear at the top on the page: Convicted, Sanctioned, Sued, Public Allegations.

If we have not as yet added any text on that person's page, you can still find information about the person, and determine why their name is listed, by exploring the links under "Related Items."

The home page (and some others) also includes a list of our ten latest articles on the right hand side of the page under the heading "What's New." Click on the title to read the full article. The right hand side of an article page contains a list of "Related Items," which leads to additional information.

Another option is to explore the four major sections on the left hand side of each page: "Take Action," "Education and Prevention," "Resources" and "Contact Us."

Under "Take Action" are our guidelines on reporting abuse and on what to do if someone in your parish is accused. There is also information on how you can help Pokrov.

"Education and Prevention" is where we maintain our lists of those Orthodox who have been convicted, sanctioned, sued or publicly accused of abuse.

You will also find a section entitled "Groups" under "Education and Prevention." Clicking on the link will pull up a list of groups. You can use your web browser's "find on this page" function to search for a specific group. If we have not as yet added any text to the group's page, you can still find information about the group under "Related Items," which will be on the right hand side of the group page.

"Education and Prevention" also includes three types of articles that do not specifically relate to a person or a group. These articles are categorized under "Cult Abuse" and "General Abuse." There is also a section on "Financial Misconduct." Clicking on the category will pull up a list of articles. By clicking on the title of an article, you can pull up the complete text.

"Resources" includes a complete list of the articles on our site, with the exception of those found under "Cult Abuse," "General Abuse," and "Financial Misconduct," as well as lists of books and links. More information can be found by clicking on the title of the article or of the book, or on the name of the link. However, these three lists are currently long and unwieldy. Site upgrades are in the works to make these lists more user friendly. In the meantime, articles, at least, can be searched with our search engine (see first paragraph above).

"Survivors Speak" is also included in "Resources."

"Contact Us," of course, contains our contact information. You will also find our guestbook in this section.
