2nd Sex Assault Charge Filed Against Priest
A second sexual assault charge was filed Thursday against a Greek Orthodox priest who police say made sexual advances on several teen-agers he counseled at a Hermosa Beach church group.
The felony sex charge was filed in South Bay Municipal Court against Stanley Adamakis, 47, for allegedly fondling a 16-year-old boy who belonged to the youth group at St. Cross Episcopal Church. The incident allegedly took place Aug. 28.
The priest, who is being defrocked, was charged earlier this month with making similar advances on an 18-year-old youth on Dec. 17.
Adamakis had been free on $17,500 bail but surrendered in Torrance Superior Court Thursday on an alleged probation violation. He is being held without bond pending a hearing. Adamakis could receive up to 10 years in prison for violating his probation on a 1986 conviction for molesting two brothers, ages 12 and 13. He could receive another seven years if convicted on the new charges.
