Yesterday Father Vasile Susan again appealed to the Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). He asked them to address the issue of his expulsion from the OCA’s Romanian Episcopate in their upcoming spring session. This appeal was sent out on the 6th anniversary of Susan’s first appeal to the Synod.

Citing the apology issued by Metropolitan Jonah Paffhausen to Kristine Koumentakos, Susan wrote that he and his family have also suffered from a “lack of pastoral attentiveness and sensitivity to the matters at hand.”

Susan’s employment agreement with St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois, was abruptly terminated on March 1, 2004, by Archbishop Nathaniel Popp. Although the priest remains an OCA clergyman, he was been without an assignment since that time. According to Susan, he has never been given a reason for his dismissal.
