The Monastery of the Glorious Ascension in Resaca, Georgia belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, Eastern American Diocese.
The monastery was founded in 1966 in Mississippi by a group of Episcopalian men. It joined the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) in August 1977.
In 1980, the monastery relocated from Mississippi to Resaca, Georgia.
The group left the OCA for ROCOR in 1997.
In 2003, the monastery joined the Jerusalem Patriarchate.
Following the dissolution of the parishes of the Jerusalem Patriarchate in North America, the monastery rejoined ROCOR in October of 2010.
The Resaca facility is now a monastery for women.
Father Andrew Rayburn began his monastic career at the Resaca monastery while the group was an OCA men’s monastery.
