The Romanian Episcopate is a diocese of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). The current hierarch for the diocese in Archbishop Nathaniel (Popp). The episcopate is nongeographic, and has jurisdiction over all Romanian parishes in the OCA.
In 2005 a priest, Fr. Vasile Susan, sued the diocese and the archbishop for wrongful termination. As far as Pokrov can tell, Fr. Vasile remains an OCA priest, albeit unassigned, and the suit is unresolved. Additional information and documents concerning the legal action can be found at ROCPNews. In 2008, Archbishop Nathaniel was selected by the OCA’s Synod of Bishop, along with Bishop Tikhon (Mollard), to investigate allegations of abuse against Bishop Nikolai (Soraich) of the Diocese of Alaska.
