OCA St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church (Chicago IL)

St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois, also called Falling Asleep of the Ever-Virgin Mary Church, is a parish of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), the Romanian Episcopate.

Fr. Vasile Susan served in this parish until 2004, when he was removed by Archbishop Nathaniel (Popp). While Fr. Vasile remains a priest in the OCA, he has not been given a new assignment. In 2005 the clergyman filed a lawsuit against the Romanian Episcopate, Archbishop Nathaniel, and Fr. Simion Pavel, claiming that his removal was without cause. The action is still pending.
