Archbishop Nathaniel Popp is a bishop in the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). He heads the OCA’s Romanian Episcopate.

In 2005 Popp was sued by Father Vasile Susan for wrongful termination. Susan had served at St. Mary’s Romanina Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois, until he was abruptly terminated by Popp as of March 1, 2004. Popp also removed Susan from the Romanian Episcopate and had him transferred to the omophorion of Metropolitan Herman Swaiko, where he was never given a reassignment. Susan remains a priest in good standing and says that he has never been given a reason for these actions. Pertinent documents can be found at the website ROCPNews. The lawsuit has not been resolved.

In 2008, the OCA’s Synod of Bishops selected Popp and Bishop Tikhon Mollard to go to Alaska to investigate allegations of abuse by Bishop Nikolai Soraich.
