Arthur Psichogios, an Australian man of Greek descent, was one of two Australian men arrested in 2008 for 230 sex crimes against two women committed during prayer sessions. Both victims were Greek Orthodox.

Early in the case it was also reported in the media that Psichogios was a highly regarded member of Sydney’s Greek Orthodox community. However, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia denied the association.

Psichogios was convicted in December, 2010. He was found guilty of 14 charges, most of which were sexual intercourse without consent.

Psichogios was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years and a maximum of 16. He maintains his innocence.
