Catherine Metropoulos’ daughter was the victim of Father Emmanuel Koveos.
Metropoulos is also a member of the Sexual Misconduct Advisory Board of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOA). The biography issued in conjunction with that position says:
“Catherine Metropoulos, a native of Watertown, Massachusetts, comes to this assignment with her commitment to advocacy for the safety and well-being of all children, combined with a very proactive approach with personal, firsthand experience as victims of clergy sexual misconduct within the Greek Orthodox Church. Mrs. Metropoulos has been active and instrumental in advocating for change on behalf of victims, and victims of sexual abuse in her state and beyond. Her appointments include membership to the Vermont Victim/Survivor of Crime Council, the Chittenden County State’s Attorney Victim’s of Crime Board, and the Victim’s Compensation Board for the State of Vermont. Mrs. Metropoulos has presented at numerous speaking engagements around the state, and was instrumental in advocating for changes to Vermont law involving several significant pieces of legislation: “Truth in Sentencing” bill — 2001,”Mandated Reporting of Clergy” bill — 2003, and the “Internet Sex Offender Registry” bill — 2004. Mrs. Metropoulos and her husband Evan have three children. They are current members of the Taxiarchae Church in Watertown, Massachusetts, and St. George in Centerville.”
