Father Arsenios is a monk at the Vatopedi Monastery in Greece. The monastery belongs to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Arsenios is reported to be the brains behind the monastery’s very lucrative land swap, which is now under investigation by the Greek government for the second time.

The monk was given a 10-month suspended jail sentence for being a moral accomplice to a breach of duty by an appeals court in Thrace in December, 2010. He had been accused of colluding with Maria Psalti, the former judge of a first instance court in Rhodope, northern Greece, where tracts of land involved in the swap are located. Arsenios was acquitted in 2017.
