Fr. Joseph M. Ciarciaglino is a priest in the Orthodox Church in America, Diocese of the South. He is assigned to St. Philip the Apostle Mission in Tampa, Florida. Ciarciaglino is also chaplain to the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at the University of South Florida.
Ciarciaglino was raised Roman Catholic. After being unchurched for many years, he became Byzantine Catholic. Ciarciaglino was ordained as a deacon by this group and served it in that capacity for more than twelve years. He wanted to enter the priesthood, but the Vatican rejected his ordination request.
Ciarciaglino earns a living as a trial attorney. Before his 2004 ordination, Roman Catholic priests accused of targeting young boys were among his clients. However, according to the St. Petersburg Times, Ciarciaglino no longer handles such cases.
