Father Nicholas Chervyatiuk is a priest in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Kyiv Patriarchate. He was the pastor of Holy Patronage Church in Chicago, Illinois.
In December of 2015 a bank official contacted the public guardian’s office out of concern that Chervyatiuk was fraudulently removing assets from the accounts of a female parishioner with dementia. Chervyatiuk said that the money was payment for caring for the elderly woman and denied any wrongdoing.
Ukrainian Orthodox officials suspended Chervyatiuk from the priesthood after the story was reported by the Chicago Tribune in August of 2016.
