Father Vasile Susan is a priest in the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Most recently, he served in the Falling Asleep of the Ever-Virgin Mary Church in Chicago, Illinois, which is in the OCA’s Romanian Episcopate.

In 2004, the clergyman was removed from his position by Archbishop Nathaniel Popp. While Susan remains a priest in the OCA, he has not been given a new assignment since that time.

In 2005 the clergyman filed a lawsuit against the Romanian Episcopate, Popp, and Father Simion Pavel, claiming that Susan’s removal was without cause. The action is still pending. Documents from the case are available on a website called ROCPNews.

In 2006, Susan asked for and received permission from Metropolitan Herman Swaiko to have an audience with Archbishop Job Osacky to discuss his status in the OCA. Following the audience, Susan memorialized the audience in writing, and Osacky signed it.

Susan sent an open letter to Pokrov.org on April 22, 2010. The letter and its many attachments can be found here.

From March 12, 2004, Susan has continuously appealed to the OCA Synod of Bishops to address the issues surrounding his dismissal. Correspondence was sent on the following dates:
