Monk John Marler was a punk rocker who joined the St. Herman of Alaska Brotherhood in the early 1990s. At that time, the group was a part of the Archdiocese of Vasiloupolis.

During his brief tenure with the brotherhood, Marler developed a “zine” called “Death to the World” which was part of an outreach to other punkers. Marler also co-authored a book entitled “Youth of the Apocalypse,” which was part of this effort.

In the late 1990s Marler left the monks for undisclosed reasons and returned to the world of music.
