Mother Anastasia Stanfield was a monastic at the Convent of St. Silouan in Boscobel, Wisconsin, in October of 1999. At that time, the convent belonged to the Russian Church Outside of Russia.

Stanfield traveled to Texas in the fall of 1999 to observe the trial of Fr. Jeremiah Hitt, a monk at Christ of the Hills Monastery (COTH) in Blanco, Texas, who was accused of sexually abusing a minor boy who had been a novice at that monastery.

Stanfield openly expressed scepticism regarding the charges against Hitt and against the founder of COTH, Fr. Benedict Greene. Greene was charged with abusing the same minor boy, but was to be tried separately.
