Mother Capitolina

Mother Capitolina is a monastic in the Orthodox Church of America (OCA), Diocese of Alaska. She is a member of Protecting the Veil of the Theotokos Orthodox Community in Anchorage.

In March of 2008 Mother Capitolina and Archpriest Michael Oleksa were elected to represent Alaska on the Metropolitan Council. Their election occurred during that that brief period of time when Archpriest Alexander Garklavs was the administrator of the diocese.

Mother Capitolina’s appointment was overturned by Bishop Nikolai (Soraich) the following month, after the OCA’s Synod of Bishops rescinded Bishop Nikolai’s mandatory leave of absence.

Pokrov does not know Mother Capitolina’s legal name, or even her last name.
