Rajko Dobre taught Serbian folk dance to children at the Cabramatta Serbian Orthodox Church. He was arrested on November 13, 2007, when he arrived in Sydney on a flight from Thailand. He was accused of intentionally importing banned goods, in this case DVDs containing child pornography.
The church community learned of the charges from the Liverpool City Champion. After verifying that the person arrest was indeed their dance instructor, the parish suspended Mr. Dobre from his position until further notice.
According to the website, Serbs in Sydney, Dobre pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted in December of 2008. He was sentenced to 24 months full time imprisonment, with a non-parole period of 16 months.
