Man killed in wreck on I-25 near Walsenburg

WALSENBURG — A 33-year-old Washington man was killed Friday in a one-vehicle rollover on Interstate 25.

Mark Vinson, of Mount Blake Terrace, Wash., was driving south, 11 miles north of Walsenburg, when he ran off the road and hit a delineator post. He overcorrected, went across the two highway lanes and into the median, rolling three times. Vinson died of massive head and internal injuries.

His passenger, Sterling Rayburn, 60, of Canones, N.M., had head and facial injuries and a broken collarbone. He was treated at Parkview hospital in Pueblo.

Both men were wearing seatbelts. The Colorado State Patrol said the 1996 4-door Subaru was equipped with airbags, which did not deploy.
