Russian Orthodox bishop leaving Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The beleaguered leader of the Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska is stepping down.
Bishop Nikolai Soraich, head of the Alaska Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church of America, says he’s taking a voluntary leave of absence from the church. He says he is not sure where he may end up, but will no longer lead Alaska’s Diocese.
The Right Reverend plans to leave Alaska next week to visit family and friends.
The Bishop says he has no hard feelings and wishes the church well.
