Update–Archimandrite Gerasimos Makris
According to a letter dated February 2, 2018, and addressed to the parishioners of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn, New York, Archimandrite Gerasimos Makris admitted to having “inappropriate relations” with two adult women, one in Massachusetts and the other in Brooklyn.
As provided in the sexual misconduct policy of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the priest was suspended on January 18, 2018, pending a complete investigation. The National Herald reported that Makris was sent to Saint Luke’s Institute in Maryland for evaluation. The institute specializes in assessing and treating clergy who engage in sexual misconduct.
